About us
The MACN Co-op exists to support local aged care providers – including residential, in-home or flexible short-term/ respite services – to continue growing and improving the person-centred care in the communities they serve, now and into the future.
Across the Murrumbidgee region, small and independent aged care providers are under pressure. New reforms, rising administrative costs, and ongoing workforce shortages are threatening the sustainability of community-based services upon which older people and their families rely.
The MACN Co-op is tackling these challenges head-on, using an Australian-first approach!
The co-operative has been formed as part of Care Together, a Federal Government funded program to help establish social care co-ops and mutuals in regional areas, where other service models have failed.
Established in June 2025, these residential facilities are the MACN Co-op founding members:

Who we are
MACN Co-op is a new distributing co-operative formed by a group of not-for-profit aged care organisations in regional NSW. Our member organisations are committed, high-quality, place-based aged care organisations that value community, culture, and connection. The MACN Co-op is not a service provider – it is a shared services organisation that exists to back its members through collective action, shared resources, and a values-driven model of support.
Strategic goals
MACN Co-op is more than a structural solution; it’s a movement to protect and future-proof community-based aged care.
1. Shared core services
Delivering core shared services to reduce duplication and support compliance, HR, IT, workforce development, and policy.
2. Responsible scaling
Building a scalable business model that delivers value to members and can expand responsibly.
3. Enhanced member capability
Strengthening member capability through support, training, and governance tools.
4. Advocacy
Engaging with government and sector stakeholders to advocate for the needs of small providers.
5. Strategic partnerships
Developing partnerships that enhance our members’ reach, resilience, and access to funding.
