Murrumbidgee Aged Care Network Co-operative (MACN) has been recognised in the National Mutual Economy Report 2026 [p 32] for its contribution to the Care Together program’s efforts to strengthen community-led care across Australia.
Published annually by the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals (BCCM), the National Mutual Economy Report highlights the economic and social contribution of co-operatives and mutuals and showcases innovative member-owned enterprises making a difference in communities nationwide.
The report acknowledges Care Together’s role in supporting the development of sustainable, member-owned solutions to long-standing workforce and service delivery challenges in regional Australia. MACN is one of the co-operatives established through this work.
As a member-owned organisation, MACN was formed to support aged care providers across the Murrumbidgee region in working together, strengthening local services and helping ensure older people can continue to access quality care close to home.
Regional communities across Australia continue to face significant challenges, including workforce shortages, increasing demand for care services and growing financial pressures on providers. Co-operative models offer an opportunity for organisations to collaborate, share resources, and build local solutions designed around community needs.
